“It was one of the closest series we’ve ever played” – Boxi After Thriller Match Against Falcons
Team Liquid has taken down Team Falcons at ESL One Bangkok 2024 after a clinching Lower Bracket series that went the distance. This is by far one of the most entertaining matches we’ve witnessed on LAN.
The first game was incredibly back-and-forth, and even though Team Liquid had taken the gold lead several times in the game, their base situation wasn’t the best as Team Falcons had claimed Mega Creeps. After 69 minutes of play, the Falcons succeeded in an all-in play to end the game.
Team Liquid responded with a very convincing stomp in the second game, only taking 31 minutes to take the game, unlike the two other games in the series.
The decisive map was absolute cinema. The game, again, went all the way past to Tier 5 items, were we had incredible late-game teamfights up to the 75-minute mark. A gold lead did not matter this game, as every play came down to pure skill and coordinated teamwork. At the very end, miCKe’s Morphling that had access to Morph into skiter’s Earthshaker was too much for the Falcons, and Liquid could eventually pull off the reverse sweep.
In a post-match interview, Boxi shared his thoughts on the game:
“It was probably one of the closest series we’ve ever played. Obviously, we’ve had a bit of a rivalry against the Falcons, so it feels super nice to win this time. Game 3 was looking a little bit rough, I was feeding a little bit, so it’s always nice to have a comeback in a game. Dota 2 – it’s very special when you make comebacks.”
Team Falcons fall out of ESL One Bangkok 2024 in 5th - 6th place despite topping their group, while Team Liquid continue to face the winner of AVULUS vs. Team Spirit.
