New Year's Eve ranking of professional Dota 2 teams

The weekly update of the ranking of professional Dota 2 teams this year has been released. Because most of the professional teams went to rest before the New Year holidays, there were not many changes in the ranking, and all of them were related to the Huya Dota2 Winter Invitational.

Therefore, in this article, we won't analyze the usual changes in the teams' positions but will try to trace their path from the start of our ranking appearance to the end of 2020!

1. Team Secret

The leader of our ranking is the European Team Secret. From the appearance of the ranking in July, Team Secret didn't leave the first line. And this is not surprising because the team had an incredible year, winning 8 major tournaments, including the first and only Major of 2020 - DreamLeague Season 13: The Leipzig Major. Despite the outlined decline at the end of the year, the team had more than enough earned points.

2. PSG.LGD

The second on the list is the Chinese team PSG.LGD. In September, after the Chinese reshuffle, the entire former PSG.LGD roster left the organization, and the organization took 4 former EHOME players and Ame in their place. Together with these players, PSG.LGD inherited the previously earned EHOME points. But this would not have been enough for the second line of our ranking, and the team, together with the new coaching staff, immediately began to win. Since September, it has won 3 champion titles and two second places.

3. Virtus Pro

Unlike the two previous teams, which have been at the top of our ranking for a long time, Virtus Pro took third place only in December. Such a leap was ensured by the team's victory at the Epic League. But, of course, don't forget that the organization castled its roster in October: instead of the oldies, VP.Prodigy came under the Virtus Pro tag.

4. OG

OG had a pretty tough season. Throughout most of 2020, the team showed average results, and only at the end of the year, they managed to find their game. Two vice-championships in a row, at Epic League and OGA Dota PIT Season 4: Europe/CIS, raised them to the 4th line from the middle of our ranking.

5. Natus Vincere

Back in September, the old Natus Vincere roster was on the 24th line of our ranking, but it was then that the organization disbanded the previous roster and signed FlyToMoon. After several months, we can confidently say that it was the right decision. In just three months, the new Natus Vincere managed to win the OGA Dota PIT Season 4: Europe/CIS and take second place at ESL One Germany 2020. It was for these tournaments that bring the most of their points for our ranking.

6. Team Liquid

This is an example of a confident European average team. The team didn't show frankly bad results for the whole year, but in October, they managed to become champions of ESL One Germany 2020, which gave a lot of points to them.

7. Quincy Crew

This is the only representative of the American Dota 2 scene in our ranking. For a long time, they occupied the 2rd-3th places, which is not surprising because the team became the champion 9 times at local tournaments. However, a long break from September took away most of the points earned from the team.

8. Elephant

Are three months a lot or a little? This is exactly how much it took for the new Chinese organization Elephant to rise from scratch to the 8th line in our ranking. During this time, the team has earned 2 champion titles and 1 vice-championship title.

9. Vikin.gg

This is the only team from Europe that doesn't include famous players. Only in the middle of the year, the organizers began to invite Vikin.gg to major tournaments. In 2020, the main achievements for the Vikinggs were victories at BTS Pro Series Season 3: Europe/CIS and DOTA Summit 13: Europe & CIS.

10. Nigma

A confident start of the year and a blatant fall in the fall - this is how Nigma's results in 2020 can be characterized. After the team captain, KuroKy, had to take a long vacation, Nigma's results dropped significantly. Before his departure, the team was always at the top of the ranking.
